In the case of a levy, the government takes property from the debtor to make up for the money that he or she owes. However, the IRS must give notice to the debtor about the upcoming levy to be in accordance with the United States Constitution. The IRS must also allow the person owing back taxes to IRS a chance to be heard.

Dealing with back taxes is not easy. It is often in the best interest of the person owing back taxes to IRS to get an IRS lawyer. Irs lawyers are able to help people by letting them know the rights they have against the IRS and letting them know what the IRS can do.
